Corten Steel also know as weathering steel is widely used for cladding buildings and has been used for structures such as ‘The Angel of the North’ it is a steel alloy containing copper as well as Chromium and Nickle which oxidises giving a rusty appearance. This can be lock formed together to create beautiful Corten steel planters. These are ideal in public places where there is a high risk of vandalism as any scratches soon rust over again.

Due to the very nature of the material these planters will stain patios, decking and clothing. We can reduce the chances of stain marks to clothing and hands by lacquering the outer surfaces once the Corten has corroded sufficiently. There is an additional charge for this service, the lacquer can be a gloss or matt finish.
We recommend all Corten Planters are recessed into the decking or paviours to prevent visual staining, as the corrosion process will continue for 6 to 12 months.
